Get to Know Nathan
"I'm Nathan Budin and I am running for Rice County Sheriff because of my deep commitment to this community and this office. Having lived in this area my entire life and raised my family here, I have a personal stake in our safety. With over 26 years in law enforcement—25 of those with the Rice County Sheriff’s Office—I have served in nearly every capacity within the office. I take immense pride in what we have accomplished together, and I am dedicated to ensuring we continue moving forward. Now is the time for steady leadership, not for taking a step back.
My leadership is driven by vision and a strong work ethic. Growing up on a farm taught me that hard work today is the foundation for the future; you plant seeds in the spring with your eyes on the harvest. Throughout my career, I’ve used that forward-thinking approach to build, strengthen and improve our agency.
I bring a solid track record of navigating complex challenges and managing organizational liability. My three-year tenure as Captain has provided me with the administrative expertise and first-hand experience needed to successfully lead this office.
Public service is essential, and being there for people on their worst days is a calling I don't take lightly. This office’s success is built on the strength of our staff—brave, hard-working men and women who make this a premier agency to work for. Moving forward, we must remain committed to supporting both the citizens we protect and the staff who serve them every day.
I would be honored to have your support and your vote on November 3rd."
